The NVPro 3D printer video camera is displayed on the NVBOTS dashboard on http://my.nvbots.com. In order for the camera to work through all types of networks, NVBOTS uses a VPN connection from the printer to our cloud services. This can introduce a delay that can make the camera feed slow or unresponsive at times. It is possible to directly connect to the printer's web cam in order to get a real-time and fast video feed. This is entirely dependent on the network configuration and environment that your printer is installed in and will likely require assistance and authorization from your IT department.

Requirements:

You may need to check with your IT department to verify if you meet these requirements

  • Ability to assign a static IP address or hostname to your printer through your networks DHCP server
  • This IP address or hostname can be directly accessed via the internet.
  • Either a publicly accessible IP address OR
  • Ability to enable port forwarding to the NVBOTS printer's address through a NAT
  • Printer is allowed to accept and respond to traffic on port 8080

The video feed comes directly from a camera connected to the printer. This is served off of the printer’s network address on port 8080. In order to display this on a web page, internet users must be able to access the printer's web server on port 8080.

How to set it up using a publicly accessible static IP address or hostname:

  • Create a static IP address and an optional hostname that can be used to reference the printer on the internet
  • Create a rule on your DHCP server to automatically assign this address to the NVBOTs printer
  • You may need the MAC address of the printer. NVBOTS can provide this information if you do not have it.
  • Configure your firewall to allow requests to port 8080 through to the NVBOT printer's IP address

The URL for the printer's web cam will be: http://:8080/?action=stream

How to set it up using port forwarding through your networks NAT:

  • Create a static IP address that can be used to reference the printer on your network
  • Create a rule on your DHCP server to automatically assign this address to the NVBOTs printer
  • You may need the MAC address of the printer. NVBOTS can provide this information if you do not have it.
  • Configure port forwarding on your NAT to forward any port you choose to port 8080 on the IP address of the NVBOTS printer.

The URL for the printer's web cam will be: http://:/?action=stream

Upgrading the dashboard video feed on my.NVBOTS.com

The dashboard, by default, will use video feed through the NVBOTS VPN. NVBOTS can update the dashboard to use the direct video feed. Once you've set it up, forward the URL and external port to NVBOTS and we can update the dashboard on http://my.nvbots.com for your prin
