Before unpacking your SAAM, please review the following requirements with your IT staff. The SAAM connects to CI Local Mode over the internet to accept updates, using Balena.io as a container. Share this page with your IT staff to assist in network setup.
Offline Setup [Airgap Devices]
SAAM's default configuration connects to the internet to provide automatic software updates from CI. If your business does not allow devices to connect to the internet, you can obtain the most recent version of the CI Octoprint Edition base image to run your SAAM or SAAM HT and then image a microSD card of 16GB with this image. If you have not yet purchased your SAAM or SAAM HT you may request that an airgap software image be provided with your printer which will enable you to connect to a local area network, but not the internet. To obtain the most recent version of the airgap software image, email email@example.com.

Can’t Connect to Your Network?
There are a few ways to use your SAAM if your local network has issues accepting the ports above:
- Connect to the internet via hotspot. CI recommends Verizon Jetpack Mifi hotspots, along with ethernet-to-wifi adapters, to connect the SAAM in areas with difficult internet connections.

Connecting to SAAM
- Ensure SAAM is connected to your network router via ethernet cable.
- Ensure local area network is available.
- Go to your router's IP address in your web browser. The IP address should be labelled on your router. If you cannot access your router, contact your network administrator for assistance.
- Power on your SAAM.
- Wait for SAAM's new IP address to be assigned on your router. Note the IP address that appears.
- Type in the IP address into your web browser. You should now see the CI Local Mode user interface.
